thanks for the recommendations... with that said, is it inappropriate to wear said colognes in the dead of winter? I just really liked how clinique smelled...

wear whatever you like whenever. Just beware that citrus colognes, due to the nature of their chemistry (there are no solid fixatives in citrus accords), don't last long. All the more so in winter air, so you'll be reapplying often. Also, check out L'Eau Par Kenzo, which has a great citrus accord on top, and some vanilla in the bottom, which makes it last. Its a bit warmer and sweeter than your classic lemonadey citrus, too, so its better for colder temps.

"Tout" being the operative word. I'm fairly certain that the "ambergris" they use is Ambroxan.

OMG, yes! Canoe! I don't remember where that came in my progression. I remember the TV commercials:

He: Canoe.

My first cologne was RL Chaps, which I used to steal out of my dad's medicine cabinet......I think I was probably 9.

Same as NantucketRed, the first was either Brut or Bay Rhum... I didn't go to Bermuda, though; maybe my dad did?

I'm not much of a fragrance fan. My gf bought me Alfred Sung "Hei" awhile back (not pricy, I don't think), and she likes it on me.

FIrst one I got as a present was a small little sampler of that michael jordan cologne. Actually smells pretty decent. I like to use it when I feel like adding a little smell but don't feel up to using something expensive.

First I bought was Bulgari Aqua. Love that stuff.
