Woolite Dark For Dark Denim?

We actually sell denim liquid detergent that is made by Sugarcane.
They're not cheap, they're 20 dollars for a two-pack.
but then again, how often do you wash your jeans?
they're made for dark denim and they come in cool Sugarcane branded packets.

OK, I am reviving this older thread for clarification. Which washing procedure will yield the LEAST amount of indigo loss?

cold machine wash without any detergent/cold machine wash with dark woolite/cold machine wash with bronner

I'm assuming that a warm wash will lead to more indigo loss.

i'm planning on washing my jims for the first time today but i need to know the price of bronnor's at trader joe's because i'm kinda strapped.


also, what if i use Tide (w/o bleach)?

I did a quick search and didn't find any past information regarding Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day products. I purchased this at Whole Foods after I couldn't find Dr. Bronners here in Omaha. Maybe a few of you have had experience with this brand too. Seems to be along the same lines (plant derived surfactants, yadda yadda, natural whatever)

I've only used it once thus far, to clean my Sorahiko Barn Denim for the first time, but it seemed to do a great job retaining the indigo. Perhaps this could be an alternative for some people. It retails anywhere between $12-14 for 64ozs.

I use woolite dark and it works fine on my first soaks. Basically, you want the weakest soap possible. If there was something like Woolite Dark Half Strength I would probably get that.

I'm sure bronners is fine, and the sugarcane soap too.

Anyone familiar with Tide? This is the only detergent I have. It says "CONTAINS NO PHOSPHATE" and there is no bleach. Would this be safe, and if so how much should I put?

My washer doesn't go by degrees/celcius, only certain settings.

Then there is quick wash (28 minutes) to normal wash/Color & Jeans (42 minutes).

Hot water= Indigo loss
Want dark jeans? Just soak with soap in the tub.

Yeah, no real reason to give them a real wash if you're that worried about it. Just do as whodini said and maybe swish the water around a bit.

Putting Dark Detergents to the Test

March 29, 2006 - There's a new detergent that can help you with a phobia you may not have known you have - a fear of washing your dark clothes.

'Consumer Reports' just tested Cheer Dark Formula, which promises to prevent dark clothes from fading. Along with Cheer Dark Formula, testers also looked at Cheer Colorguard and Seventh Generation Free and Clear.

All three detergents contain special cleaning agents and little or no optical brighteners which can fade dark fabrics over time.

Testers cut swatches from 100% cotton black pants and fabrics and put together three separate laundry loads. Then the swatches were washed five times in cold water.

"We compared the swatches to see if there was any difference between the original fabric. You could only notice slight fading," Pat Slaven of 'Consumer Reports' said.

It turns out that all three of the detergents prevented clothes from noticeably fading. When it came to cleaning, cheer dark formula did the best job.

To prevent your dark clothes from fading too fast, you should turn them inside out while you're washing them and always use cold water.
