I was excited when I saw these until I read this,

The pinnacle of the collection is the original 1,000 Mile Boot which will be manufactured in the US. The rest of the collection is not made in the US, but we are planning future developments of the US made line for Spring and Fall 2010.

I'll keep an eye on the 1,000 Mile Boot but I'll definitely be passing on the others. I'd much rather stick with the made in USA heritage Redwings if that's the case.

Why would I want to purchase classic American style workboots in a "heritage" collection from an old American brand that are not actually made in the country the brand or their classic shoe styles originate? If I'm buying into a brand's heritage line it had better be in more than name and style only. Especially now, when there are other American brands still offering similar classic styles that are made in the USA.

Hopefully the price point on those are within my reach. Because they're straight fresh.. And for that partiucalr boot and style, i'm indifferent with regards to its origin. Although i understand others sentiments about the contradiction of an American Company producing a "Heritage" line that isn't made in the USA.

I've been wanting a pair of vintage boots like the 1000 mile for years now. I was thinking about the alden indys but they just don't do it for me enough to pay $350. I bought a pair of ll bean katahdins as an inexpensive substitute.

I emailed wolverine and they said the 1000 mile would be $325 and the others would range between $200-250.

The 1000 mile shoe looks great.

More interested in that tan, plain captoe bal style boot. Also comes in black.

I'll probably get both of the price is good.

They would be excellent for work for me, seeing as I can't wear leather soled shoes to work.

Should be a good year for shoe lovers, especially with that alden indy via J Crew. I'll be nabbing that one, as I really like the darker colour.
