Couple weeks ago I bought the black McCleans on sale at Nordstrom (33% off). Day or two after purchasing, they dropped it another 5 or 6 percent so took them back for a price match (it was a one or two day reduction).

This morning I wake up to find it reduced by 50%. I'm still within the two week price protection period but Nordstrom only price matches once per item. Damn.

That's not quite true. Nordstrom has an almost unlimited return policy. If they don't price match (and I don't see why they wouldn't) then return them and then immediately buy another pair. Boom

Website says only price match once. I would return and repurchase, but I already altered the boots by getting vibram half soles on them. :(

Just go into the store with your receipt and they will credit you.

That stinks.

I picked up a pair for $200 on November 26.

I noticed they are back up to $268 today.

They arrive tonight. Hope they look OK.

That sole in rain, wet leaves, snow, ice and slush would have been a liability. Commando lugged sole, the deeper the lugs the better, are a far better choice.

My winter boots are zug grain Trickers with a commando sole. Bullet proof and easy to care for.

Wondering if anyone has tried darkening their wolverines? That is, with actual dye rather than indirect dyeing with water proofer. I have a pair of rust bought second hand that I'm not getting heaps of wear out of. I have brown and black leather dye I'm considering experimenting with

Interested in anyone's experiences or thoughts about how the rust cxl would react to a stripping agent + dye application

Haven't done this, but I would say don't do it. CXL is naturally oily as it is soaked in chemicals to make it basically maintenance free. I've got some golden cxl that are so shiny that they look like they're still wet. Let's say you do strip the color, I would think that the dye would run off because of the oils underneath.

V interesting, thanks for your response. Given I'm considering getting a new pair altogether to replace these I think I will still give it a go. I will post pictures and let people know how it goes.
