Why do the vast majority of leather gloves have ridges on them?

Why do the vast majority of leather gloves have ridges on them? I hate those ridges. They look ridiculous IMO.

What is the point of those ridges?

Why are there so few leather gloves available to choose from that don't have ridges on them?

I don't know, is it? I would think there would be more ways to distinguish them than that.

I agree, the ridges look terrible. I've been looking for a pair of more fitted, slimmer gloves for men lately, as I have smaller hands, but haven't been able to find a good pair. Everything I find looks and feels like it's 2 sizes too big. Anyone have suggestions?

This is a new one on me. I think they originally were darts, but they might just be a detail. Anyway, they've never bothered me one way or the other.

There are a bunch of threads on custom gloves and some have good reviews with decent prices - look up Chester Jefferies to start.

Buy ladies...seriously.

Darts are on some ladies as well. I have a men's pair that doesn't have them. No one will know the difference.
