Why can you tumble dry some dress shirts but not others?

When I tumble dry a non-iron Brooks Brothers or a Charles Tyrwhitt shirt, they come out just fine. When I accidentally tumble dried a TM Lewin shirt (John Francomb Classic), it came out with ripples on the placket, cuffs, and underneath the collar. The TM Lewin shirt was non-fused. Does this explain the different result?
