Michael Spencer makes dress shirts to order - online. Have worn a few of their oxfords the past 3 1/2 years. The fabric and fit/finish are excellent, far better than, say Brooks Brothers' 'original polo.' I'm not a fan of no-iron cotton and appreciate Oxford cloth that's robust, easy to iron, and likely to last for many years. I also like the fact that I can choose the sizing and features on the shirt - monogram, locker loop, several different styles of collar, placket, cuff. Apart from that, these shirts are put together well.
I ordered a shirt from them some months back and screwed up the measurement on the cuffs. My fault, user error, end result being the cuffs were an inch too tight. I felt stupid, but I asked about sending the shirt back to replace the cuffs. Their response - no problem, and no charge for the repair.
The repair turned into a replacement of the entire shirt. I don't know why, but it took a while, a few months, to get that done. Longer than I waited for the original shirt. I politely asked for updates a few times. When the shirt finally arrived, it was, as expected the right size, and the same quality. Moreover, in a nod to the delay, the company issued me a credit to get the next shirt free of charge.
I freely admit I screwed up the initial order, and the company freely admitted it took too long to get the repair/replace out, but offering the credit was both unexpected and the kind of outstanding customer service one rarely sees today.
