I've purchased 3 through GoDaddy as well but host elsewhere on both the webpage and the email side. It's not bad for that.

I appreciate your recognition that I am much more like the Fresh Prince than Carlton, RJ. Thank you.

I wouldn't waste money on domains making fun of ImageWIS when I can do so for free here. (Note, I try not to interact with him at all anymore.)

I'm sorry I opened that can of worms.

Still, pink sweater. Man.

At least Alfonso still looks pretty good now. According to his Wikipedia picture.

Get it at the cheapest place (Godaddy is often cheapest). Do NOT search for domain names at just any random site. I'm still trying to figure out which site it was where I searched for a bunch and the next day, some of them were registered by Network Solutions and I had to pay them $30 for the one I wanted. I know they have a bunch of different shill sites whose purpose is to log searches and then they steal the good ones if you don't register it right away.

Also, I wouldn't host anything with Godaddy, I've heard some pretty bad stories about their support.

Choose another name, it's been registered since '04. Or contact one of those email addresses on that page and ask about buying it from them.

I'm doing everything through blogger and have a nice Mac account so I don't need a host. Advertisers and my designer have insisted I get a real URL, however. Edit: Oh, something expieres in May. If I "backorder" it on GoDaddy, should I conceivably get it?

Seconded. My girlfriend is a consultant and the company she's working with currently uses (won't soon) GoDaddy for hosting. They were having an issue with 301 redirects and GoDaddy Support sent her a knowledgebase article to fix the issue. Their "fix" took the site down for an hour. Probably not - the person that owns it likely auto-renews but it is possible.

i backordered one of my domains and got it.

but i don't think that's always the case. domains when expire have a month forgiveness period before they get resold. they contact the original registrant in that time and if no response they go to the sale pot. assuming no one else put in a backorder prior to you you would conceivably get it.

Yeah, you're better off thinking up a new name than expecting to get one that's already registered to someone.
