I was measured many years ago and believe I am a 37S. I am 5'8" which is in between short and regular on many fit guides. I have this problem all the time with all clothing. If I get a small shirt, it's too tight. If I get a medium, it's baggy and loose.

Anyway, sticking with the original question. at 5'8", should I stick with short (possibly too short) or go with regular and have it probably be too long?

Thanks.

Of the 2 options you list, go long and have it shortened. Your 3rd option is to try other brands until you find one that's just right; It probably exist, but it may take some time and patience to find it. Your 4th option is MTM/custom, but you have to pay full price, and I assume from your question that isn't going to happen.

what taxler said. im also on a limited budget so tailoring is difficult to do on a regular basis, but have found that trying different brands can be extremely useful. im a 44L myself and rather slim. often trousers/sleeves are too short (or if theyre not then the overall effect can be too baggy) but have slowly discovered some brands that do fit well.

I am also 5'8" and, although say it varies from brand to brand, I am usually a regular. I am probably slimmer than you so suits proportions are probably more commensurate to my height in my size. Honestly just try as many brands as possible in the style you like and you'll find what fits you the best.
