Yeah, for Canada, I'd say Montreal is quite strong. gy!be was based here, there's also Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Malajube, the Unicorns were around a lot too from what I understand, then there's Stars and some others that I'm forgetting right now. Not too bad.

Most importantly Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Also, Land of Talk, Islands, The Stills, The Dears, Les Breastfeeders, We Are Wolves, Sunset Rubdown, Kiss Me Deadly and Stars among others... Phenomenal music scene. eh. just noticed the shortened gy!be and stars in that post. As far as historically... That is impossible b/c it really depends on the type of music you listen to. Personally... NYC, LA, San Francisco, Wash DC, Seattle for 60's through 2000. If you threw it all the way back to the 1930's I'd say the Mississippi delta with Robert Johnson. histrion- random question. are those "**** la mode" shirts completely played out in Montreal? do you know what I'm even talking about?

Agreed on Montreal, surprised no one has mentioned Toronto. And depending on what type of music "scene" you're talking about, how about Cape Breton?

If we're talking "historical", Detroit for sure. Chicago. "Historical"? Yeah, Cape Breton again

Seattle.

You shouldn't be, as every right-thinking Canuck outside the GTA is congenitally incapable of saying anything positive about Toronto, ever ...
