What's a reasonable price for an Isaia staple suit?

$800. A good price would be $600-700.

I detect your cynicism but don't see anything unreasonable with my answer.

Seriously, $1000 is probably ok. I'm assuming you mean at a department store with reasonable return policies and not an ebay or B&S purchase.

I've been scouring this for months and I would agree $1000 is fair price. $800 would be a damn good deal.

I wouldn't go more than $1200-1300 from a legit store like STP.

Since he is asking about a desirable size I'm guessing he wants to flip

I've only seen Isaia at around $800 at the sample sale in NY and my local Off-Fifth. The Off-Fifth versions do come in staples but is that Argento line or whatever it is that has been previously discussed before. If you can pick up suits at $800 in staples, that's a good/great price. If for $600-700, excellent. I'd even pay $1000 for one I liked.

while it is relatively easy to get wacky plaids and bizarrely colored pinstripes at the $800-ish mark, i don't think the staple solids will come that easy. i'd suggest you aim for the early $1000s.

I got a good basic one from eHbaberdasher a couple of years ago for around that price.
It was probably from a past season, a Sirio model, the cut of which I actually prefer
to the present "Base S". Last fall I got a very basic charcoal Belvest for a similar price
with a Bergdorf Label. Probably better than Isaia ? In any case, a quality
suit.

The wacky fabric ones can often be found around the $600 mark.

Went to a local Off Fifth Today and with the extra 50% off from midnight to noon sale, picked up an Argento Base S in grey flannel chalkstripe for $750 + tax. I have to say, sadly, it fits better than the suits I received from WW Chan a couple of days ago. I have to reevaluate this RTW vs. custom. Only issue is that with searching for discounted brands, one has to compromise on certain design details. Suit would have been perfect if it were 3 roll 2.5, had a ticket pocket and had side tabs on the trousers.

^^I believe that that the ability of choose details and cloth are the only 2 reasons to get bespoke over a RTW if one has a 'regular' shaped body.

Agree, plus bespoke does not require any expensive alterations such as taking the sleeve from shoulders, taking in chest and shoulders (especially if it is "shirt sleeve" shoulders) that may create major dilemma (losing the shoulders style vs wearing longer sleeve) as I experienced with Borrelli recently. Another dilemma is with basted sleeve (again, with Borrelli) as in my view what is the point of having standard working buttonhole if the whole jacket is full of hand-stitches and the tailor quoted nearly $700 for hand-sewn buttonhole.
