Im a college super senior and i have to do a presentation next week and i would like advice on what suit to buy. I know i have to buy a suit anyway b/c i will have to find a job soon. I would like this suit to be appropriate for a job interview and for work. My professor said i have to wear the full suit

I hear a black suit is not good b/c it is too serious. I hear it should be a navy or gray suit but I think navy is a better choice. I live in New York City.

I do not want to spend like 500 dollars for a suit though. I checked out banana republic on line and they look mine to me but ppl say it is expensive and the quality is not that good.

Can someone recommend me where to buy a suit? I heard SoHo was good but where specifically. H and M i heard is cheap which is not good.

If this is your first suit, I think H&M is a good choice. No sense in throwing down a lot of money on a suit before you really know what your preferences are.

You should go to Zara. The quality isnt going to be good but the price is reasonable (less than $300) and the cut is really nice. Given your budget its the best you can do unless you buy used.

There are 5,326 threads in the last 2 weeks on this topic by my count. You may want to look around the site a little and come back with some more specific questions. It is going to be difficult to buy a suit and have it fitted in a week.

and its not grey or navy, but for a first suit, charcoal is more versatile.

I seen charcoal suits but i don't really like the color. I like the navy color suit. I just feel like getting it at Banana Republic b/c most of my clothing that i bought there such as loafers, shirts and blazers are from there.

Are there suits that bad?

yup pretty bad, I would say Zara and H&M for low budget, they fit better than Banana Republic and cheaper anyway. Of course quality wise, Zara and H&M are both crap, but if it's your first suit, I would rank fit and appropriate color above everything else.

Hey clee1982 i will be getting the suit either tomorrow or thursday. Would you say Zara suits look better than banana republic? I am a luxe member so i get free altering at br. How much would a navy wool suit cost about at Zara as oppose to BR? I am around 5'7.5 -5'8 and about 147lbs. Most of the blazers i wear are 38R.

hum, sorry wouldn't know, haven't shopped in either place in ages, just past experience before I moved on. By the way, are you sure you're 38, I am slightly taller than you're and about your weight, I am sort of 37ish (odd size might not be an option though, probably best to try both 36 and 38 to find the fit for you). What kind of fit do you like, good amount of waist suppression?

Okay i will not be going to get it tomorrow nor thursday. I called up one of my friends and he said he will be coming with me ON SATURDAY to see how it looks on me when we check out the stores. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Like what specific stores to shop and which ones to avoid? We live in NYC and will be going around Manhattan. My friend mentioned Zara.

Height has nothing to do with it. Go to a store and try tons of **** on.
