Any opinions on Elac speakers around here? Trying to revamp my vintage system with some new speakers and looking for something decent that wont break the bank. These are supposed to be great QPR but are they good enough to live with long term as I start upgrading the electronics? My current amp is a high end solid state Yamaha from the late 70's. I will likely eventually get into a more modern, all tube, dedicated pre/power amp setup.

I’ve had the Adante AS-61. They’re incredible but they need a giant amount of power.

How did they sound?
I’m running 60 watts per channel right now and considering the Debut line. I think I read these are also somewhat power hungry.

That depends on what kind of amplifier it is. But I think 60 watts should be enough.

I had the Adante on 500WPC

which amp worked best on it? 500 watts is a lot! Right now I have a 50W tube amp and I think they are good enough for my 86db speakers

Mine was McCormack DNA 500. You just need something with a lot of grunt to power them.

The step I have not yet taken is serious room treatment. I'm just not there - I understand the importance but I can easily see myself falling down a VERY deep rabbit hole.

I have been using my recent period of enforced WFH to sort out an unobtrusive system with some new speakers. Have now set up a Sonos amp with some Dynaudio M10s and a Sonos sub, linked to a Sony AG9 55. Having spent the last couple of evenings tweaking it in, I would recommend the Dynaudios wholeheartedly, both for TV watching and music playing - it has made the long evenings stuck indoors much more pleasurable...

I bought the Elac Debut B5.2 just to see what you get for the price. I think they were under $200 on Amazon. I'm quite pleased with them as budget speakers.
