What shoes to wear with Dark Jeans?

I am a khakis and button down guy usually but every once in a while I need to pull out my dark jeans for going to bars or clubs with friends. I usually wear a dress shirt with no jacket, lacoste shirt or something similar.

What are some good leather shoes to wear with these? I am thinking black monk straps maybe, but that might come off as pretty affected. I have been wearing white sneakers and I that may be a little too streetwear for me.

Thanks.

I'd like to add I will be in Austria and Germany three months this summer and would like something versatile enough to take me from Vegas to an uptown bar if need be.

Monkstraps are good. Slip ons are good too. My personal favorite these days is the RLPL penny loafer Barksdale in dark oak.

Seriously, almost anything goes with dark jeans. Not black Oxfords if you ask me, but I think brown suede Oxfords work - today I wear the C&J Westfield semi brogue Oxford, tobacco suede, with dark blue jeans.

May I also suggest burgundy tassel loafers? The tassels make you the king of the club.

The wideness of the leg also has some influence. Tighter jeans will look good with refined shoes, whereas baggier jeans will look good with clunkier shoes. For instance (1) sleek oxford/monk vs (2) double-soled derbies, boots, 360* welt, squarer toes.

A wider leg will drown a visually smaller shoe. Things that contribute to visual smallness are thin soles, pointyness, low vamp/toe, small heels, plainness, and darkness.
