Do you know Charlie Haden? He has this nutty vibrato tone. Really beautiful.

Charlie is great. Look at his work on Linn's record label.

I played the Mosaic box set of Art Pepper's Pacific Coast Jazz series. Terrific.

Yes, Charlie Haden is a (living) bass palyer. He recently put out an off-beat record paying homage to his bluegrass(?) roots.

I can't believe you typed 'nutty vibrato tone'...

yeah, downloaded that yesterday morning off of itunes...burned a copy for the drive into work on the beltway...by the second running, halfway through my commute...I was bored stiff. It did make me appreciate Dan Auberach's solo album that much more though!

Meh. Just doesn't do it for me I suppose. I did just finish another turn on VU's Loaded. After not trying to compare it to VU+Nico I found it much more enjoyable.

Yep, already tried that one. I'm just not a Pixie guy I suppose.

Dave Brubeck Quartet, Bravo!

on Columbia mono LP. Bravo indeed.

Also, Miles Davis, You Are Under Arrest on LP.

I just can't get into Brubeck. Don't like his style.

Enjoy his voice.

Also, proof I am in an odd mood:

Holy crap, haven't hear Dead Can Dance in years.

I miss the Housemartins. (On a completely different note.)

A friend of mine's band. He's actually really, really good (he writes everything, does lead vocals and guitar). It was weird to have the cd in one day and my girlfriend and I were both singing along to every song. It's cool, but it breaks some kind of man rule. He's now in NYC, has a band called 1944.

But thanks for the tip.
