I watched The Damn United yesterday. I found it to be a very interesting character study. Michael Sheen is becoming one of my favorite (or in his case favourite) actors going today.

I watched "Drive" last week, I thought it was a mix between "Lost in Translation" and "A History of Violence"... a very good film!

The day after, I watched Mission Impossible IV, not bad, but not even close to MI III, the best of them all in my opinion.

^^ that is next in my netflix queue.

i watched the adam sandler flick "just go with it" last night. not bad as romantic comedies go. pretty funny and not too sappy. also gratuitous **** and ass shots of jennifer aniston and brooklyn decker are never a bad thing if you ask me.

Midnight in Paris.

It's really just a cute/pretty tribute to the beauty of the city...but as a recent visitor of the place, I really enjoyed it.

Saw "The Artist" early this afternoon. As you may know, it is a silent movie (almost entirely) and done in the style of the old silent movies. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it immensely. Very good "suit" movie, set as it is in the "Golden Age" of the late 1920's and early 30's.

I liked this movie quite a bit as well. It won me over in about 10-15 minutes. I think it's going to win a lot of awards. Also saw:

Tin Tin:
I liked the animation and the story, but Spielberg often makes really saccharin movies that don't sit too well with me. Was disappointed overall.

Hugo:
I thought the 3D in this movie was incredible. Maybe better than Avatar, and the cinematography was fantastic as well. Some of the dialog was a bit off and a few scenes were overly sentimental, but I still liked it and would recommend it.

Melancholia:
I thought I would like this movie but I hated it from the beginning to the end. Both the writing and direction were deeply, deeply flawed.

Anyone who watches a Lars Von Trier film without knowing what they're getting into will be at best confused and at worst disappointed/outraged.

I thought the family was insufferable regardless of the intentionality of this. The only reason why i enjoyed it so much was because of all the literary guest appearances, and also I was damn glad Woody Allen wasn't in this one.

I actually don't like the animation for Tin Tin, Tin Tin will always be 'cartoony' for me.

I watched Harsh Times on Netflix Instant. Talk about waiting for the **** to hit the fan the whole movie. I liked it. Great performance by Christian Bale.

I watched The Tree of Life and it was definitely interesting. I don't think the average movie goer would like it but I think the SF crowd would appreciate it. Also, I've been wanting to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy soooooo bad but I can't find a theater in the Houston area that has it :(.
