I just bought a nice piece of clothing from aquascutum and on the tag it sais: "it is recommended to reproof this coat to maintain original quality" (quoted from my memory).

I dont get it, what does one do when one reproofs something?

If it is for something like a raincoat I believe it has to do with having it occasionally re-waterproofed.

You can buy wash-in products by Nikwax that will re-waterproof a raincoat when it is needed. In fact, they will waterproof anything, at the expense of breatheability.

Barbour vends a reproofing cream for their outerwear. Imagine it would work on
other brands as well.
