What do you all think of this leather jacket fit?

Definitely don't do ASOS, H&M, Zara, or any of the fast fashion brands. Those jackets are awful.

Unless you're in a hurry to get a jacket, I would start by just saving photos that you like. Follow various Instagram accounts. Develop your eye and sense of taste. Then wait a year or so before actually buying a jacket. Your taste may evolve rapidly, and you may as well let your taste develop by consuming photos, rather than expensive leather jackets.

The salesperson recommended this from the women's section as it fits me better... Is that okay? Can you tell if this jacket style is womens or mens? How's the sleeves? Do you think the sleeves may need a bit of shortening as it's not sitting bang on the top of my wrists?

Jacket seems fine on you, maybe a bit tight throughout the body. If you can zip it, then it's fine. I like the style better than the first one.

Jackets like that aren't defined by gender. It's just a double rider, which is traditionally a men's garment, but has become somewhat unisex.

Leather sleeves naturally shorten over time as the material crinkles. I would wear it for a while before making alterations. They seem mostly fine.

The sleeve length is perfect. Double riders are motorcycle jackets, and so were designed to be somewhat longer in the arms so that they would shorten to the correct length with your arms extended to hold the handles. Even if you don't ride, the longer sleeves are the classic look.

It's definitely edgier than a cafe racer, but the style has also become so mainstream now, it's kind of generic. I have a couple of double riders and like them. I wear them on occasion. I wouldn't say they're that out there.

Cindy McCain, AOC, and others wear double riders to television interviews. I think the CEO of some car company also recently wore one on TV. The style kind of blew up with Kanye and Hedi Slimane about five or six years ago, and now you can find them at H&M.

In a soft leather like the one you're wearing, I think the style looks pretty tame. But if you don't feel comfortable with it, you shouldn't get it.

If you get that one, I think it would look better with black jeans. Or at least raw blue denim.

I also think there are better DRs out there, depending on your budget. If you want a soft, non-rugged DR, check Falcon Garments.

In a non-covid world I would say -go out and try a lot of jackets-, often you just don't know you like something until you've tried it on. Try to develop an intuition for what looks good on you, atm it sounds like styleforum approval is your only gauge. Many brands nowadays use models with a regular or larger build, perhaps collect some images of what you think looks good on them. Try to articulate why you think it looks good. And as Dieworkwear said, look at the whole picture, not just the jacket.

DR's do have a bit of a reputation of being the edgier type of jacket but the style itself has become very diluted these days - I'd say it's the most common style of leather jacket I see around. I'd agree with earlier suggestions of looking at lots and lots of pictures of leather jackets and saving ones that resonate with you. That in combination with going to the store and trying different leather jackets in different styles should be pretty good.

Also agree earlier on sleeve length being fine.

Thanks everyone. I shall keep searching and think about my first jacket purchase (I do think the double rider I tried was pretty cool though) - I'll see if I can try a few cafe racers too before I decide. But thanks all for your tips and input! Really appreciate it.
