I have a ton of Lacoste shirts and while I will agree they keep their color pretty well, I will also say that they shrink a ton when washed regularly. I had to give a few away that I had for only a couple of years because they were looking like belly shirts. Because of this I have tried to seek a new brand while still remaining faithful to my trad sensibilities.

I have bought a couple BOAST polos and I really like them. They are cut slightly slim but nothing constricting, which I like as I generally only wear polos in hotter weather. Only downside is that the emblem on the shirts can be construed as less than conservative.

I also recently purchased a couple of polo shirts from Style Forum member Kent Wang. I really like the cutaway collars on these, though I will say they are extremely fitted. I'd suggest sizing up at least one and maybe two sizes if you have a larger or athletic frame.

Next spring I think I am going to look into Sunspel as I have been very impressed hearing about their fit and craftsmanship from other members on SF. However, they are a bit pricy for me so I think I'll hold off for a sale.

I'm with Goldentribe here.

Im all for a little bit of luxury if you can afford it, but going gung ho for a top of the range tee is plain silly. H&M, and if I am lucky, Hanes will have those thick cotton tees I like. They dont last long, but who cares, purchase replacements and use the old ones to wash the car or polish the furniture.

As for Polos, brand fixation from a fit perspective makes sense. From a quality perspective I dont see why we should go OTT on them particularly for solid colors. Im equally happy with a Robert Talbott $50 Polo as I am with a higher end Loro Piana one. I occasionally venture into designer label territory when I see a polo with an interesting design or pattern, but by and large, for solid colors, spending more than $70 - $80 is silly unless you are after extremely slim fitting stuff only catered for by more expensive brands.

As for tees in solid colors, spending more than $10 is a waste of money IMO.

Lacoste V-necks are pretty nice; They're made of pima cotton and fit well. MSRP is $40.
