VZ Exclusive/MTM in San Francisco

Hi Folks,

I'm looking to break into the MTM space in San Francisco and see a few options. I seem to have a choice on a few online catalogs where a salesperson measures me and then I can order online (such as Tom James, J. Hilburn, or Indochino) or I can go to a local tailor that does more of the work (I'm thinking Spoon or possibly Andreas Gorges for this). I've also been in contact with VZ Exclusive because I found them in another post from this site (from a member with exactly one post..).

My specific questions are: does anyone have experience with VZ Exclusive? I can't find anything about them online that's not from their site or blog. Please let me know if you've had experience with them and if it's good/bad.

My second question is: should I just skip these catalogs like J. Hilburn and Tom James and go to Spoon or Andreas Gorges? My inclination is to try Spoon first, but J. Hilburn or Tom James seem intriguing with a lower entry price point. I've seen a lot of bad reviews about Indochino so I'll probably avoid it. Anyone prefer Andreas Gorges?

Second this one. Also, Suit Supply just opened up and have a MTM program. From what I've heard, they have some guys there that know what they are doing.

Isn't Suitsupply off the rack? I'm really looking for made to measure. How does the price point of Beckett & Robb compare? Does anyone have experience with them/can speak to how their experience was?

They have off the rack and a MTM program. Pricing can be found on their website. No experience with the program, but I've seen/heard some good results from members of the forum.

Alright, well thanks for the replies everyone. I think I'll take some time to consider my options and at least stop in at Suit Supply and Beckett & Robb. It seems like Suit Supply has been debated and reviewed extensively on this site, but I would appreciate any input anyone has on Beckett & Robb. I can obviously go into the store, but I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience working with them and how that went. Feel free to send me a message if you don't want to post it on the forum. Once I do my rounds I think I'll post back here with my results.

Thanks for posting the like to the B&R thread. It's interesting that it started out rather laudatory then went off the rails and ended with mixed reviews on the MTM space entirely. It's left me with questions about how I should proceed and whether I should buy higher end designer OTR and just have them altered.

My issue has been that I am 6'4 230lbs and have a 45" chest and 37" waist. Most of the time, the OTR jacket fits reasonably but needs to be taken in at the waist, but the pants fit large through the seat and upper thigh, leaving an unflattering, baggy look and feel. To be honest, my only suits to this point have been Jos Banks' Signature Gold on discount. I was a litigation attorney and they were cheap and conservative, so they fit what I needed at the time. Now I can afford better than cheap and don't need something as conservative, so I am trying to see what I should do.

I am very much in the "exploring all options" at this time. After doing some research I think I could see myself doing higher end OTR or MTM, but bespoke is likely too high for me right now.

With a drop 8 (waist 8" smaller than chest), you should be able to find a few models that fit well in the jacket and trousers at Suit Supply.
