i´m really not a car guy. cruisng down the autobahn is part of my job, so the vw passat has always been a good choice for me. no luxury, but confortable et spacieux. by chance i saw this: the new vw passat glamour coupÃ

Appears to be a sedan to me, but still a pretty nice looking car.

Nice to see a sleeker design from Volkswagen. The 4-door Coupe idea is absolutely ridiculous from a marketing point of view though.

Isn't the MErcedes CLS referred to as a 4 door coupe too?

By the way, the car looks like an Acura in the 2nd to last photo. Not bad looking though

I'm on my second Passat now, and hope that the new one (whatever it's called) turns away from the luxo-cruiser mode back to the autobahn mode.

Looks really nice.

Yeah. Apparently you are correct in that. I ripped this from wiki "Four-door coupÃ

a sedan with classic coupÃ

-like proportions. The designation was first applied to a low-roof model of the Rover P5 from 1962 until 1973, but was revived as recently as 2004 by the Mercedes-Benz CLS."

I see shades of an Acura RL, Volvo S80 & MB E-class. Too bad since the late 90s passat was an attractive, original design that imparted a distinctive corporate look. VW is a strange company. Until the mid-90s, it was near oblivion in the states, saw its fortunes revived with the new Beatle, Jetta & Passat, and then with the redesign or staleness of those cars lost the plot again. I don't think this new model will change the company's current fortunes here.

Looks like somebody has been looking at the CLS a little too closely.

True. The look without the high price.

I had a Jetta in the 80s. The dealership recommended all sorts of unneeded work whenever the car was in for oil changes. This was when it was under warranty; but the warranty wouldn't cover it ["sorry sir, you must've hit a curb']. I've owned Chryslers and Subarus since with no issues like this.

Had a Volvo too. Same song sheet as Volkswagen.

My Audi dealer wants $780 for new pads (which the car actually needs) and then they also want to install new front rotors, which they say are .5 mm under the recommended limit. The car is 2 years old with 3K under the normal mileage usage and its going back to Audi in a year.

So I'm going to a recommended, independent shop and just replacing the pads...for $200.

If the rotors are 0.5 mm less than the recommended limit, I'd change the rotors for your own safety, or not drive the car until you return it. That kind of wear implies heavy brake usage that doesn't bode well for rotors that are too thin already.

Is that $780 for all 4 wheels' pads, or just the fronts'?
