$780 was for front rotors and pads. The rears for some reason are perfect and don't show the same kind of wear (realtive) as the fronts. It was "˜their' recommended limit, which doesn't necessarily mean Audi's. Anyways, I'm having the other shop check it out (I've known dealers to be less than trust worthy).

$780 for just front rotors and pads is like 2x too expensive, even compared to what other German marques charge. In terms of parts, that's about $120 in parts, and it seems doubtful that they need 6 hours to do the job itself.

I assume you don't have two-piece rotors, which would add almost $400 to the parts cost.

Rotors have their minimum thickness stamped on the side of the rotor hat. From the dealer's perspective, they're probably trying to avoid liability if your worn front rotors explode down the road.

Front rotors tend to wear about 2x faster than rear rotors because they do most of the braking.

The 2006's didn't. Once they came out with the B7, they put a stop to covered brake pads / rotors.

Well, I got a price for just the pads from a recommended shop (I have to call them regarding the rotors), and they wanted $200. Even if they charge me another $150 for rotors, its still less than ½ of what the dealership wanted.

Front rotors tend to wear about 2x faster than rear rotors because they do most of the braking.

I know, but even then the wear in the rear isn't very concise in regards to the wear in the front.
