Could I get opinions on this Florsheim derby?

Is it likely from the 60s? The style suggest Yes but the heel suggest No.

Is it good quality leather and construction?

These classics are in excellent condition both uppers and soles/heels. The uppers have no drying or cracking and are a beautiful pebbled leather.

I have a pair of these, they’re pretty nice. They are a 60s/early 70s model. Those are the original soles and heels, but the stitching on the soles does look a little wonky for some reason.

Thanks for confirming that I was wrong... it was that wonkyness that caused me to be a bit suspicious but I don't have the experience that you obviously do with this model.

I already and recently bought a pair of McHale from this seller. He had these PTBs listed at 49.99. I offered 25. He came back at 27.99 and I said "*******."

Hours later all shoes were listed as 50% off. So 24.99.

They are my size and I like them. But my pride is getting in the way of the purchase.

This looks like it is made for Florsheim by Mchale. I have a pair that has similar construction and heel height. Are these from 70’s? Were 1.25 to 1.5 inch heel common on dress shoe around that time?

I am not sure these are Florsheim by McHale. The soles aren't McHaleisq.

Plus the markings also don't reflect the McHale style/font. My guess is the dying days of US production. Maybe even marked as "assembled in USA."

But I could be completely wrong. Either way, good price for great shoes. Maybe my pride will have lost its swelling after lunch and a beer or two.

LOL - it's very funny you point this out. I happened to be viewing that image as my daughter was hovering and the same thought occurred to me. Then I remembered that she's the 2 year old and not the 8 year old. Coast is clear for the sailors among us (at least on my end).

A different kind of vintage find. I seem to go through laces frequently due to my hard pulling. The last few from Johnston Murphy have held up well, but they are colourful fun laces. I need some solid black and brown ones. I recently bought some Mad Dog laces for my boots. So what did I do? Scour eBay for well made shoelaces. What did I find? 5 boxes of Cordo Hyde laces. For $60 and free shipping. I only need the 36' laces, and maybe one or two of the 18 and 27' ones. The remaining extras I will either try to barter with a cobbler, or send to @mariusscott

That's a super deal even just for the 36" laces. The shorter ones are too short to be useful for me, generally. Great find!

I didn’t know Nettleton made a (non-shell) version of Florsheim’s Yuma until I came across these. They are my size. I’m tempted. Anyone know anything about this model?

EDIT: these are now incoming. For $34 shipped it was an easy decision.

That's not wear, at least not in the traditional sense of the word.

Those are grind marks. Like the man tried to stop his car like Fred Flintstone does. I am pretending that these shoes belonged to Evil Kenevil and that he needed to stop his bike on a dime.
