Personally, I’d just hit them with some cream polish to add in some pigment, and then see how it looks. There’s all sorts of stuff you *could* do from burnishing to stripping and re-dying, but you might be just fine with a few thin layers of cream.

I have three pairs of Cordwainer Wrights, and in each case they are *so* worth the money. Quality materials. Workmanship/construction is excellent, and the shoes are very comfortable. I recommend the brand without hesitation. Here's one pair: View attachment 1396316

I've got a pair and seriously comfortable

Found these in a thrift store bullying a group of Rockports, are these a thing? View attachment 1395931 View attachment 1395932 View attachment 1395933

When I first got into nice shoes, I was unsure of LWBs as I associated the style with old men.

I easily have over 30 pairs of LWBs now. I also never warmed up to PTBs. Then I bought 1 pair to diversify my collection. 12 pairs later......

Even though considered to be more casual, I do wear them with suits. They are plain and don't attract attention. It makes them versatile.

2 of probably my oldest vintage pairs. Allen Edmonds Empire from 1957. They are basically museum pieces at this point as the leather is brittle and the top-lines are extremely rough.

I worked for Allen Edmonds for about 7 years. At one time had over 70 pairs of AE but have whittled my collection down to 3 pairs - these and early 00’s black park avenue.

Those need the Steve Doudaklian at Bedo's treatment and they'd be good to go...

Alden 925 Wingtip Bal from 1982 on the Arch Street Last in Walnut Brown Calfskin. I had never heard of the Arch Street previously but it is a very elegant dress last. Similar to Aberdeen/ Hampton. Alden provided me a picture of the 1982 catalog photo of this shoe.

Some plain toe are more dressier than the LWB. Tuxedo shoes are plain toe too!

Hi suit:
Funny how we associate things, eh? I always associated brogues with the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VIII. I think he was famous for wearing country shoes with a city suit in the ‘30s. In fact I believe there was a bit of a sartorial scandal when he wore his suede brogues to town! Different times, eh?
