The Allen Edmonds Cambridge shell oxfords arrived yesterday. They only needed neutral Venetian Shoe Cream and trees along with some brushing and buffing. Just wish they were my size.

93605s arrived on the porch. Guessing they are 1988 issue. Dirty as hell and the soles look like they have seen some water....but the uppers look SOLID. Supple with no cracking, one small split in the piping of the left shoe. Interior is clean and smooth. Looks like third time might be the charm and I finally have a keeper pair. If the cleanup goes well these may have to get sent to Bedos for the premium JR treatment.

Yep. The soles and liners got a round of Bick4 as I'm cleaning them up and I think they wont need anything but heel tops for quite a while.
Since I was in the lab I got back to working on another pair of uncorrected LB Sheppards. I cut the dye 70/30 with iso alcohol. I love how they are shaping up but I have absolutely no idea what I will actually wear them with lol.

Now they are eye popping :nodding:
Even mixing 70 iso to 30 dye the base coat came out much darker than intended. So I switched up the plan and spent about 3 hours with a paint brush and different gradients of purple attempting to patina/antique them with dye. The only polish on the uppers is Saphir violet cream, Collonil neutral and a touch of Saphir mirror wax. Sole edges got black dye, black cream and black wax. I'm not mad at the result.
This was about 90% cleaned up. The edges along the welt are a huge pain with corrected grain shoes. Needed to go in with a tooth brush and acetone to get it stripped. I did not do that with the ones I turned green last year and there is still burgundy lines around all the edges and stitching. Right shoe is completed here, left shoe still had a ways to go.

I had intended the initial color to be about half this dark. It came out almost the exact color of the violet polish.

And here is the finished product. I completely neglected my dandelion infested yard this weekend in favor of playing with shoes.

Great pair. Those uppers are going to clean up well and look terrific. Soles still have a lot of wear remaining.

I told you they would clean up well, but those are above and beyond what I thought would occur. Stellar.

I’m pumped for you. I think I need to get me some collonil. I’m looking for a pristine pair of 93605s too. Mine are pretty good but I could stand an upgrade.

What you meant is: "As a member of this thread, I can, and never will, have enough vintage shell. Especially 93605s."
