Forgot to mention that I finally got to play the P.T. horror demo that Kojima worked on. I love a good horror film and that thing still got to me. Very well done atmosphere. Too bad you can't download it anymore.

Hearthztone,eh? Any of you guys play MtG?
This week's brawl is great. Started out hating it, now I'm loving it.

I also thought that spamming chickens and mech upgrades meant flooding your deck with more crap cards. Took me 10 games to figure out, lol (where I went 2-8). Better read them instructions carefully. :embar:

I think i've mentioned in this thread before that i've briefly played a couple casual games of MtG in the past with a friend. Never really had interest in the game, but have considered trying it again since i've discovered how much I love playing Hearthstone. I know enough about how MtG is played to see why some players of it make fun of HS, but I believe they are missing the boat. Yes Hearthstone is a much more streamlined experience, but it makes up for it with the hero power interactions, added RNG and card types that MtG could never duplicate due to it being a physical game. Take one of the recent expansion cards Reno Jackson. It restores you 30 health when played if you only have a single copy of any given card in your deck. How would you add a card like that to MtG? Let your opponent go through your deck and verify that you correct? It really couldn't be done.

Besides that, the game is just a lot of fun. It's got a great community and is just about the perfect lunch break game i've ever played.

Took advantage of the Steam sale to buy Kerbal. Cool game, I'm learning a lot about space travel!

Elise Starseeker is another that really shows how far they can leverage the fact that HS is digital.

Yup.

Plus mechanics like Discover would be extremely hard to pull off in MtG. Are MtG players going to have all those extra cards lying around to shuffle and draw three to choose from? Some Discover cards have a huge card pool range that they can pull from.

I've seen people make fun of the RNG aspect of the game, but I honestly think it's one if HS' strengths. It adds a layer of randomness to the game that can instantly turn it around with a little luck. Skilled players are still going to have a higher than normal winning percentage much the same way a skilled poker player will over time despite getting some unlucky hands.

I much prefer the mulligan and mana systems of Hearthstone.

Removes the pain that is getting screwed by not having enough land. And being able to mulligan only some cards (or all cards, but without penalty) is great...especially in drafted games where decks aren't optimized and a bad starting hand can totally screw you.

Tried playing MTG recently with hearthstone style mana (mana count just goes up by one every turn, no color) and thought it was nice. We were playing decks that had been drafted for normal play...removing mana color would definitely lead to overpowered cards if you built them knowing you were going to use a mechanic like this, but since our decks weren't built that way, they didn't seem unbalanced.

My one big complaint is Blizzards reluctance to tweak and balance cards after release. They will do it every once in a blue moon for cards causing truly OP decks like Patron Warrior was, but in general they seem reluctant. For instance instead of tweaking magma ranger 5/1 they put out a new card Ice ranger at 5/2. It doesn't make sense and will eventually crowd up the card pool with bad cards. Part of the advantage of being a digital game is you can tweak stats on the fly for balance.
