I’m in the market for a derby and the new offerings from Viberg.com look really nice. Has anyone had any sizing experience with the Cantilever last? Viberg recommended sizing up 1/2 from 2030/1035, and I’m curious if anyone can validate that advice. Thanks in advance.

I've tried the cantilever last in the same size as my 2030 size. I'm an 8 in the 2030 last and tried an 8 in the cantilever and found it too tight and uncomfortable. An 8.5 in the cantilever would have likely worked for me, so up 1/2 from 2030 or TTS for me.

It’s comfortable and very supportive, but a little snug. Go up a 1/2 if you can. I’m a 13, so I’m out of options.

I own the Mr Porter black derbies on the Cantilever, and I'd suggest going with your Brannock size.

It's a bit of an unusual last, quite reminiscent of Alden's Modified (snug at the waist, plenty of toe room, and a very curved banana shape). Not for everyone, but anatomically correct (unlike the 2030 which prioritises looks over comfort).

I'm usually turned off by GYW on Viberg's shoes, but I find it works well on this last. It's already a "busy" shape, due to the unusual curves, and the GYW helps tone it down a little.

Hey guys, I just got some kangaroo slippers from 3sixteen (posted a review here: https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwe...g_x_3sixteen_kangaroo_slippers_initial_review). I bought them a half size (7) and a full size down (6.5) from my usual 2030 (7.5).

The full size down are snug all the way around with/without thin socks... the half size down fit ok on my left foot but have a little heel slip on my right foot unless I wear thin socks. The full size down pair aren't uncomfortably snug or anything but they kind of feel like I'm wearing a leather sock.

Question for you guys is experience with Kangaroo leather and how well it stretches/conforms to the foot? I think I'd be fine with the full size down pair as long as the leather stretches out a little but but am a little unsure as to which route to go.

Anyway, never owned Viberg slippers and never owned kangaroo leather so any advice would be much appreciated!!!

For reference, my feet measure as:
  • Toe to Heel - LEFT 8.5 / RIGHT 7.5
  • Heel to Arch - LEFT 8.75 / RIGHT 8.5
  • Width - D

My shoes that fit me well are (US Sizing):
  • Alden Trubalance - 7.5D
  • Alden Barrie - 7.5D
  • Red Wing Beckman / Iron Ranger - 7.5D
  • Red Wing Postman Oxford - 8D
  • Viberg 2030 - 7.5D
  • Viberg 2040 - 7.5D

I can't fathom how much people size down for the slippers. I must have a really high instep or something since I went with my 2030 size and they are still snug after a ton of wear.

Crazy, I couldn't imagine wearing my 2030 size in these slippers! FWIW I decided to keep the full size down slippers... the half size just felt a bit too loose to be comfortable with... my assumption is that the leather will stretch with time and the footbed will conform.

Hahaha... That surely would solve my problems! Actually it would be awesome if some of these shoe manufacturers sold each side individually! The logistics of that I guess would be a nightmare but it'd be great for people like me with unbalanced feet!

I'm in the same boat. I am still searching for a loafer that fits me so I don't have to bite the bespoke bullet. Maybe we should have an odd feet thread where Styleforumers can find their reverse foot twin and shop together.
