let me just add i think the 3 piece are ,although very aesthetically pleasing, are highly overrated practically.

they are almost near impossible to pull out from the toebox. the part stuck in the toe area. you have to stick your finger in the hole and try to pull out with the sole strength of your finger while at the same time trying to rotate it.

i prefer the springloaded ones, at least you have more leverage to pull these out.

I agree that the three-piece trees offer little (if anything) over regular spring-loaded trees.

But they look so so cool.
