Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a pair of Vass Old English ii on the F last but just had some sizing questions. I currently have a pair of C&J Weymouths on the 337 in a UK 7E that I find a bit snug around the instep and a tad narrow in my right foot even after some wear. I also have a pair of G&G St James on the TG 73 in a UK 7.5E that just about fit correctly (they seem to have a higher instep). With all of this in mind, what size would fit me on the F last? My suspicion based on reading previous posts is a 41 but was hoping for some opinions. Finally, do people have recommendations on who to buy from? Older posts suggest places like http://www.margoandralph.com/ http://www.budapester.de/ or ordering direct from the Budapest Vass store. Have people had any recent positive/negative experiences or any other recommendations for stockists?

Hi

You can order UK sizes as well from Vass. In my experience, the 43 I have in continental European sizes translates exactly to the 8.5 I wear in the UK size Vass.

In G&G I'm half a size bigger, and I too have a high instep. Based on your description and my own experience, I'd recommend going for the size 7 that you wear in C&J, but of course it's difficult to assess without seeing you.

As for ordering: We could order the shoe for you, or you could order through the other retailers you listed, or you could go through Vass directly. It's probably mostly a question of your geographic location.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply retozimmermann. So just to clarify, a 8.5UK Size Vass = 43 = 9UK in G&G?

Is this on the Vass F-last and if so, how does the width in the toes compare to the G&G?
