Hey guys,

I lost my ID recently so I can't really do much in the city anymore. At least not until next year.

Anyways, I was wondering if you guys knew of some fun things to do in NYC that doesn't involve going out and drinking.

I've done most of the regular/touristy things like go to a comedy club, movies, concerts, the Met, Central Park, Bryant Park, Broadway/off-Broadway shows, Empire State Tower, etc.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do aside from the ordinary? My gf is coming into town on Wednesday so I was thinking a nice dinner + maybe a comedy club where they might...might let me have a beer haha.

Let me know.

Much appreciated. Thanks!

This is truly sad sentiment. Pretty much all of life is available, except being drunk and stupid.

It may be sad but all the same it could be true as well, yes you may be able to go to the theater or the met for a show but after that what does a person do under 21 do?

The discos are all 21+ better dance clubs whether they be swing or salsa are +21 as well. the same applies to a decent amount of the jazz clubs as well. so what does one, that get be conscripted to die and kill for his country but cannot have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner,do?

also being drunk and stupid are what i consider a part of my past which i still value, a 19 yearold need not act as though he or she is 40 years old.

Just for clarification, in America soldiers are not conscripted - we have an all volunteer military.

Perhaps in your small town that's true but not in NYC. There are tons of things to do in the city that don't involve drinking. Two of my favourite NYC activities were: rolller hockey in Central Park and chess in Washington SQ (the latter involved getting high most of the time but you don't need to be 21 for that

).

Agreed they both seem to be reasonable afternoon activities and of course you have all the other potential hobbies like fencincg or rugby, one could create a fairly long list of sports one can do in NYC, but create for me a list of social activities at night an under21 could do, unless are playing chess at 23:40.

And only to clarify yes my birth city maybe considered small in comparison to New York, Shanghai, SP, etc, but one could be assured that it is oe of the largest cities in Italy. Also I am speking from my xp in nyc when i went there to visit a cousin and learn english for a year. that year made me wish wish i had a cousin in london.

But one could be conscripted if the government wanted to correct? In american i think you call it drafting or the draft I apologize for using a GB english term.

I have never been to NYC, but if and when I get the chance I definitely would go to MoMa.

being underage can sort of suck, but in some cases clubs are 21 to drink 18 to enter. try finding some of those clubs. Plus, Nyc is huge right? I mean there has got to be plenty to do outside of drinking. You are a member of this clothing related forum, go shopping. Go to a yankees game. Try to get tickets to a tv show, like... conan obrien, the daily show, but screw letterman (he isn't funny).

there have got to be atleast a million other things too.

good luck

Even there, you will be carded for sure so having no ID at all to show is an issue

Is it that bad in NYC?
I cannot remember being carded a single time in mid 90s New York. I also recently saw people smoking inside the club like it is 1980s.
Sad to see NYC adopt anal-retentive demeanor of it's mayor.

Really depends on where you go. Sometimes nothing, sometimes a cursory glance, sometimes a scan. It seems to be getting more and more strict interms of carding -- since the past couple incidences (in the past cpl years) of underage girls going out, getting wasted, and then murdered.

Sex.

For what it's worth, my .... uh.... brother never had a problem drinking underage in New York without an ID. It depends on where and when.

I've always heard that new york is one of the easier cities for the underaged to get into bars.

In fairness to the OP, in many places there isn't much to do after 10 if you're underaged.

See the thing is that my GF is coming in. Not something I'm going to do by myself...e.g. playing chess in the park.

Anyone have any romantic ideas or fun things to do with another person? Thanks very much guys! Keep the ideas coming.
