I am trying to figure more options for belts rather than just a leather buckle belt. I have a few grosgrain ribbon belts and was wondering what else I should do to evolve my 'style.'

What style are you going for? You could try a croc belt, possibly in different colors rather than the ordinary black and brown.

For a more streetwear approach, look for belts with some hardwear on them.

I have heard that Danny Kaye used to occasionally wear a tie as a belt, although I have to wonder after the ability of a man not Danny Kaye to pull this off.

I think your best bet is to get leather belts in different styles, like Mike C. suggested. If not, you're going to end up looking very feminine and metrosexual. If that's what you're going for, then all I can do is shrug.

Canvas army D-ring belts are a cheap and rugged option. Also, they are a lot more suitable (and honestly, manly) option than grosgrain belts, especially for F/W. Studded belts (I've owned studded belts by pretty much every maker out there, and the coolest, by far, are by Baltazar (check out some examples on their website www.baltazar.la, although the site is sort of crap, and the belts are a lot nicer, more detailed in person. A lot of the belts shown are unfinished products. www.trashydiva.com shows some of the more feminine belts, but you see the construction better) The construction, in real life, is really amazing. Prices are around $200. Beth Frank in L.A. makes amazing one of a kind belts, with prices to match. Hollywood Trading Co makes some cool vintage belts, and are somewhat cheaper than Baltazar, though frankly I prefer the styling of the latter. There are different types of buckles, from the Ranger style to the D-ring style. Try a two prong D ring belt with a dark suede strap for a rugged look. I had one from John Varvatos, but gave it to my brother, who needed a nice belt a lot more than I did. Still available from Bluefly, I think. If you want interesting buckles, check out Paul Smith, or be adventurous, and scour flea markets. Be careful of the Rodeo style buckle though - they are getting a little too ubiquitous/obnoxious, and you don't want to veer into the territory of those guys who wear trucker caps, still.
