Tying a straight knot

Im referring to the four in hand. It seems mine is always tilted to the right or left. What part of the tie process would cause me to have it tilt.

The FIH is inherently asymmetrical; a beauty to some, a beast to others. It's the only knot I tie.

Try a half Windsor. Not too knotty, but symetrical (this assumes you have a bit of a spread to the shirt collar and it is not a button-down).
