Just did some research on EG Top Drawer. Starts at $1600. Slightly higher than Prestige RTW.

Is that still the price, or has it come down recently along with the GBP? Old forum posts might not be the best source of information.

Yeah right, like they would lower their prices because the GBP drops...they only know how to Raise prices.

Interesting Manton, who do you put in the 90 - 95% as good bracket?

Would you say this is a similar story for EG?

I am not sure which colors EG offers (RTW) for the Asquinth, Inverness and Malvern. RTW is about $700 for the Asquinth. Assuming that the color, size and Last are available that I want in the respective model--should I just get RTW or opt for Top Drawer?

Is the TD that much better made than the RTW (that would justify the cost difference)? Thanks for the clarification.

Depends on what you want. If you are not making significant changes to the design of the shoe, then you probably will not feel TD is worth it.

Depending on what you order, though, EG can make some wonderful things in Top Drawer.

1) I met the new shoemaker at JLP NYC last year. They were looking to find him workshop space so he could do some work in NYC. He was in the JLP branch before he moved to NYC, but I don't recall where he trained. He did think my G&G's were Cleverley's though and knows TG.

2) I want to mention Corthay, who does more fashion forward shoes than the English. After training at JLP Pierre was at Berluti for a few years, and they seem to be able to give you that extra coloring/patination look. In addition, their hollowed out bespoke shoe trees are the best I've seen - bar none. They make other shoe trees look like paper weights. Was considering a pair of bespoke from them but can't justify the cost at this point.
