Thoughts on trousers

Hi,

I've been a lurker for a while and never posted, so here goes. I'm starting a new job in a few weeks where the office is business casual. I don't have that many pairs of trousers. I know some days I will will a suit and no tie, but now I need slacks. Has anyone had their pants made separate from their suits? Any thing I should consider different from the MTM suit process?

I only ask because I tend to like fabrics and patterns beyond what you see in the normal pant racks.

Also, I'll be going to NYC soon and plan to hit Barney's, Paul Stuart, and Bergdorfs, but would welcome recommendations for smaller men's boutiques--I enjoy supporting the little guy when I can.

Thanks,

MTM trousers follow the same approach as suits but any decent tailor will have cloths better suited to trousers than suits. Just the same as much cloth for sports coats does not make good suits.

How gracious of you in your support "--I enjoy supporting the little guy when I can."

Thank you for the reply. I hope my statement about "the little guy" wasn't offensive. Should have said, "the independent shop owner."

You said it fine in the first place. I also favor supporting small businesses when they offer something the big guys don't, be it a better product, a better value, or better service.
