After a couple years of wear my RW Iron Ranger boots developed a bump on the insole around the ball of the foot that has made them unwearable (I developed metatarsalgia recently after a weekend of heavy walking in them). To my untrained eye, it seems like some of the cork came loose and doubled up under the insole, causing the bulge in the foot bed. These being my very favorite shoes, I decided to just have them fixed (and resoled earlier than would otherwise be necessary). I took them to the Red Wing store who informed me that they couldn't be fixed, and that I should just buy another pair. I had the, perhaps misplaced, idea that a good pair of boots could be repaired every few years rather than always buying new (which seems wasteful). The shoes are just beautiful and in great condition other than the bump in the sole, which seems like something that could be repaired. But then again, I may have just bought too much into the Red Wing marketing. Does anybody have thoughts on this issue and how/if I might go about having them fixed? My local cobbler has terrible reviews so I'm considering mailing them elsewhere to have them repaired. Thank you for any advice you can offer
