can i get a consensus on what is the best way to approach this? the ideas seem to be all over the place.

- nizoral?
- zinc?
- hair loss product?

does that basically cover all the bases that you guys are mentioning?

All men lose hair in their 20s. Unfortunately some a lot more than others. I can't comment on the propecia and other perscription drugs. If you're looking to try a new shampoo, I'd recommend trying one with Neem Oil in it. You can also just purchase pure neem oil and add it to any mild shampoo. Also, for styling, use something more natural, less chemically-produced. You can try using baby/mineral oil (sparingly or you'll look greasy) or jojoba oil (again sparingly.)

Not all men lose hair in their twenties. A few, like Ronald Reagan, make it to old age with the hair they had as teenagers. It's more accurate to say that many Caucasian men lose hair by age 35 or, if you count the juvenile hairline, age 30.

Is this only true for the thin? I can't think of a heavy person who shaved their head and didn't look worse because of it.

Most people don't look better with a shaved head. Rather some don't look worse than with obvious balding . The few who look better tend to be fit and blessed with good facial features. Also, in the real world, a shaved head might not be situationally appropriate.

I wholeheartedly agree!

I am very thin and, unfortunately, my hair is thinning. All my features are very fair and I always thought that this meant that I would look very awkward with bald or very short hair (no visible outgrowth). To test this theory I asked my hairdresser to give me a really close cut. It came out looking like a pseudo crew cut and it was awful. Not only did the lack of hair call attention to the features of my face that are the least flattering, it also made it quite obvious just how unmasculine my face is (i.e. not at all angular). I kind of looked as if I had just been released from a concentration camp (not intended as a joke or to offend). Needless to say, I now fear the day when I no longer will have a choice with regards to how I wear my hair. If you're willing to risk a couple of weeks of humiliation, try what I did and get a shorter cut next time--it should give you a better idea.

GQ just did an article on the power donut. IMO if shaving makes you look bad, then not shaving will make you look bad also. You're screwed, unfortunately. Buy a rug?
