HOV lane violations.

I took a poorly and vaguely marked on-ramp to a highway and there was a roadblock on the on-ramp with two cops stopping people for HOV violations. There were only two of the F***ers and for that reason, they let other cars with only one person pass when both of them were writing tickets.

How the hell can you wake up in the morning and think your job has any utility when your day consists of writing pedantic tickets (that still require a court appearance or a lawyer) at the base of a poorly marked intersection.

In the spirit of the law, shouldn't these fuckwads be pulling people over that are actually driving in the lane?

His brother died in a car wreck three months ago, so now his mom has to deal with this. Just awful. Makes you analyze everything you said to the person the last time you talked to him. I mean I know it's no one's fault, etc.... but my last conversation with him was the night he took off. I chewed him out pretty badly for something that seems so minor now.

sorry to hear that, man.

Sorry to hear. This happened with a friend of mine this past November. It was one of the most surreal days of my life when combined with other things that happened that day. It makes my rant a couple of posts above seem inconsequential.

Officially giving up on building Casa de Piob. The RE market here is just too fucked up and will continue to be fucked up hard for another 5-10 years. Only three houses were built out in the 12 parcel little development we bought the land in. One house was 80% completed and the owner was trying to sell it. He lived in one of the other two completed houses and was trying to sell it too. Bank owns both of them now and has the more expensive one on the market at well under 50% of what he was originally trying to sell it for. Not a chance we are going to be able to finance our build project with those comps. Time to sell the lot, take a little loss, and sit on our cash for a couple of years and buy a foreclosure. It's the end of a dream but it's the right thing to do. We'll probably end up with something very nice, for less money, but it will not be "our" house that we so carefully planned out.

^That's a bummer, Piob, but also could be an opportunity for some legitimate bargain shopping. If big ticket houses are on the market for 1/2 price, you should be able to drive a hard bargain on a house somewhere.

One person's misfortune is another's big win!

That sucks Pio, sorry to hear it. But hey, as long as the house has a wine cellar...

Yesterday I saw three 20 somethings hauling ass down the street in a golf cart. At the end of the cul de sac the driver did a quick U turn and turned it over, giving the girl a serious case of road rash.

Drunk dumbass season has officially started on the coast of North Carolina.

Thanks, guys. We knew this was probably going to be the outcome 18 months ago but just decided to actually move the lot. We're shooting for Q3 of 2013 to snag a something nice out of foreclosure. We're too old to not be patient and something foolish housing wise.
