Yes. And not just a wait list, but also an established buying history with that AD.
This is nearly purely speculative, based on a handful of data points, but perhaps you'd have a better shot. and a lower entry point, at an AD in a smaller, maybe non-US market.

One of the reasons I buy JLC almost exclusively. A great watch for a fair price. The team there always treats me well and acts like real human beings rather than the fake subservient personality/voice that is far too common in luxury goods. You know, the voice that goes up 3/4 of an octave with overly annunciated vowels that just screams fake. I never receive the attitude of "I'm doing you a favor by selling you something for several thousand dollars," and that is exactly what I want in an experience.

Not sure if you are speaking about JLC boutiques or ADs? Anyway, that is definitely the experience I'm sure most of us want. I've had that experience at lots of boutiques and ADs for a variety of brands. I've also have lousy experiences at plenty of boutiques and ADs (some that carry a variety of brands including JLC).

JLC makes great watches, but the OP has to want one. He seems interested in a Rolex. Everyone is different, but I know if I truly want something, a competitor or substitute simply won't satisfy me. I respect and like the JLC a lot, but other than a tribute Reverso, they don't make anything else I truly want. So at this point in time, JLC would be a one and done deal for me.

Has anyone had any experience with Wingate/Tic-Tock? I'm thinking about a watch from them. They have a 16030 that I like, but there is one from a Japanese store that I actually like a bit more, and they are actually asking for less.

The thing pushing in favor of Wingate is that it's supposedly fully serviced and under warranty, and frankly, I'm a bit tired of sending off vintage watches to get serviced the moment that I get them because they haven't been serviced in a couple of decades. They do have a good return policy, but the reviews I've read about them are mixed. Also, only one photo, which is honestly, not a great photo. I don't have a bad feeling about them, but I am not wholly sold either. Does anyone have any experiences to share?

I kinda ignore that attitude but i do gravitate towards folks without that so maybe that’s why I don’t catch it as much.

Now to see fast they sell out though....
I don't know how quickly it happened, but all 25 are gone. In my opinion, it's a pretty great-looking and -sounding Monopusher. Interesting that the price includes a trip to Switzerland.

My post was more of an aside. I try to avoid the comparative conversation that often happens in this thread of "buy XX brand instead of YY brand."

My mindset around substitutes is very similar to yours. Unless things are truly equal, I'll always tilt toward my emotions.

I was referring specifically to the JLC boutiques.

I kinda ignore that attitude but i do gravitate towards folks without that so maybe that’s why I don’t catch it as much.

I try to avoid it like the plague. Yet somehow, it's still ubiquitous in NYC. Or maybe it just follows me around.

One brand's boutique has an assistant manager who is the absolute worst example of it. Voice and face reminds me of this amazing Curb scene:
