Agree. It screams "look at me, this is custom made". Also, it makes absolutely no sense, or am I in the wrong?

Your own experience may be utterly irrelevant to people with fat asses. Have you ever worn a ventless tuxedo with a very fat ass? I suspect not. I did it for many years. Now that I'm below average weight for my height, after being very obese as recently as 2020, I'm keenly aware of the differences in fit between a fat man and a thin man, and what works for a thin man may not work at all for a fat man. Especially when it's an issue of fit around the neck, the waist, or the ass (or seat, as tailors like to call it).

I am just catching up on the last couple months here. The size of someone's ass has no bearing on the fit of a jacket. When standing the vents, whether single or double, should hang closed. Your jacket should hang exactly the same as if you have an unvented jacket. If the vents are separating to make room for your butt then the jacket does not fit right. The only reason you really need vents for comfort is when sitting on a horse.

Not my preference either, but it's a traditional option.

I just want to vent I am half pissed at this mob because I ordered a boutonniere from them yonkers ago but it never arrived and they would not offer me a refund....also I'd rather get a real flower from your florist/or grow your own.

Etsy could be an option as well. I see a few Tiffany blue options there that aren’t exactly ideal as-is but you might be able to customize.

BTW.. we’re attending another black tie event this weekend. I’m having my waistcoat remade but I don’t think it’ll be ready in time. I guess I’ll wear my cummerbund. Anyway… per the usual arrangement, I’ll report back on how things look out there.

Thank you guys for the suggestions. Went with an option on ebay that was local.
Funny thing is I bought a 12 colors kit on amazon a couple years ago... every time I need a boutonniere, the color required isn't in the kit lol
