Any opinions on 170? I’ve heard it’s middling/average (for a Krug)
As you alluded too, it’s still Krug. I wouldn’t call it middling at all, it’s a very good edition. I like the 170eme just fine and would be happy to drink it any day as it seems to be drinking well young (whereas the 164eme needed time).

Opening this up in a bit to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary:

View attachment 2021075

Could stand to age another decade or three, but it’s just entering the zone and the year is the right year. Arguably the first major anniversary where opening it isn’t a crime.

Wow. As mentioned, could certainly stand to age a few decades, but what a faultless, perfect wine even now. First aromas upon opening the bottle were fruity and jammy, but those dissipated quickly within first ~20-30 minutes. Very bright and electric on tip of the tongue. Oaky, wet stone, dark fruit flavors on the tongue. Touch of mint on the back of the tongue and in the (very long) finish. Silky smooth and very rounded mouth feel, but with body you want to chew. Overall, very structured and focused. No crazy, wild bouquet or complexity like with a Mouton—rather, very unified and commanding. Perfectly balanced.

Want to buy a case or two!
