I think this brand, a South African merlot, is by far the most exquisite thing I have ever tasted. The price is very decent, especially when you consider the rand to dollars differential.

I highly suggest giving it a shot. South African wines are world celebrated and yet... less popular due to their lack of being imported.... the Country's laws prohibit it to a point... especially lately.

So, I realize that the baby sitter who stole two bottles of wine from me, one of the bottles was my last 1986 Mondavi, from the very first stash of wine I ever bought about 2 weeks after I turned 21. *****.

Yes, I'm finding this to be a trend with all of my 80's Mondavi reserve. The 90's are much better.

That's awful. You can find '86 Mondavi for a very reasonable price online (though who knows the storage conditions) but the fact that you had held onto it since you were 21 is the sad part. At least it wasn't '86 DRC?

Palo Cortado is so delicious. I'm really enjoy the González Byass VORS Apósteles. And I'm very much looking forward to the bottle of Tradición Palo Cortado and demi-bouteille of El Maestro Sierra Vinos Viejos Palo Cortado--they should be fantastic too.
