I’m a big fan of the tooled leather from RRL, sitting in the office now with the braces on. Charcoal suit, floral tie and new LE tuxedo shirt (I should get black braces for this look though).

Someone else may have mentioned this, but it might be worth repeating.

If an item is out in your size, holding the cursor over the size lets you request to be notified if your size is back in stock.

Starting this past year, your request for notification also triggers a message to RL stores across the USA. If your size is in stock, the item is automatically put on hold and an SA will contact you to let you know the item is available for purchase.

I don’t believe anyone has seen it in person yet ..... because it hasn’t been shipped to the stores. In fact, I think that if you even order it on the website today the shipment will be delayed.

Well of course it‘s overpriced ..... it’s Double RL. Stuffed teddy bear $495, set of hand woven cup coasters $295, tie clip $495, t-shirt $125, key fob $95, slippers $295 ..... bottle opener $225. I think someone may not be paying close attention.

But, to be fair, let me just put on my rose colored RRL goggles (an absolute steal at only $495) and take a closer look. That Shetland wool-cotton jacquard jacket is priced at $1,400 (full price). So that’s like what? Two teddy bears and a tie clip? Or, two bottle openers, a teddy bear, t-shirt and a set of coasters? If it sounds any better, it’s less than ten key fobs and a tie clip? The price of the jacket doesn’t sound quite so bad when you translate it into RRL terms.

All kidding aside, the jacket looks awesome. But it will look even more awesome when it is discounted IMHO.

On the subject of hand tooled leather, I picked up this playing card case which came with a deck of cards from the long defunct Sahara Tahoe casino.

Seeing the tooled leather pents (which are very cool) but definitely in the category of things I would never wear got me to thinking of other RRL items which are cool but I'd never wear. And I thought of the furry cowhide double rider I got and haven't worn. By day I'm a mild mannered SW engineer. But by night I am too. I figure I'll wear the non-furry DR I just got though.

Is this really working? I tested with some shirts and vests last week and didn’t even get an email when my size is back in stock. I assumed this works for only VIP members?

I put my info in on an item in August(?) and got a call from an SA at the Melrose store a couple of weeks later. He asked if I was still interested in the item. I was and he shipped it the next day. I guess it was this new system.

This was extremely disappointing.The tooling was so underwhelming and almost fake. At $800 on discount, this had to go back ASAP. I was expecting a nice, robust tooling With thickness on the vest. #return

I was thwarted by it’s fabric-backer, and that it looked somewhat Viking.

I unfortunately have it all boxed up and ready to go back. I will say it does look good layered. However, the draw back is the details/materials feel cheap. I just can’t justify it knowing the lack of quality.
