Does anyone *cough* mdubs *cough* have any pics to compare the different Ravello LWB's? AoC, TSM, Alden DC, etc.

I'm curious what people like better for edge trim color.

Chris, I have some older pics. Give me a second, I am going to upload from Chrome. I don't have a pair from ShoeMart. I actually haven't seen TSM run a Ravello LWB, not saying it's never been done though.

Here you go!

Left Alden of Carmel (2012), Center Alden of DC (2009), Right Alden of DC (2013).

The JCrew and AoC has the tan "antique" edge trim. The Alden of DC has the dark edge trim. Alden of DC now does it on the Double Waterlock sole with Antique edges. All my conversations with Kathy has me to believe that she plans to roll forward with the new design.

So I'm finding the sole (single flex) on my CXL Dover to be very uncomfortable as it is not supportive in the least. I'm thinking about having the sole changed.

How does the double water lock sole compare to the regular double lock sole wrt comfort?

Enjoy those boots! They're one of my favorite pairs of Aldens, I came very close to wearing them today but opted for C&J Islays. :wow:

Just curious, here did you order your Islays from?

reverse chamois pt boot in a gross rainy early fall day

Lately I am loving Alden's chamois and reverse chamois. Those boots are great. Looking forward to a version of this on crepe from Winn Perry.

EDIT: What last are those? J. Gilbert?

Thank you so much Mike! I appreciate your post. Huge help. I think I like Ravello on Antique or Med Tan edges the best, but darker still is stunning as well. I am playing roulette with the ones DC had close to my size. It's in the double water lock from this past summer, so I'm assuming they're the lighter?

I cannot believe how different the shades can be!

What are the main differences between waterlock and leather soles other than the waterproofing aspect? Do waterlocks last longer?

They are supposed to last longer when being worn in wet conditions and more slip resistant. Being that the butyl and waterloc are very flexible, it makes for a really nice feel on certain make ups and can help avoid heel slippage, especially with slip-ons.

@ReppTiePrepster

I was at Alden SF a few weeks back and can confirm I saw a color 8 tanker.

Citi Shoes lists them as a regular item.

I would love a color 8 WT or Indy boot on Plaza, with NST coming in 3rd (prefer those on Aberdeen now). Last I checked, Yenni wasn't doing a run.

@Profligate47 Sporting my regal shortwing bluchers (barrie; 360 flat welt) on commando a la AoC...
Direct sunlight (second pic) really shoes off the richness of its color!
So much win :slayer: Alden's SWB pattern is so underrated. One of their best IMO.
