hello all...first post here so hopefully this is within the rules..

So I recently picked up my first pair of Alden's (black calf, plain toe blucher) and have since decided I need another.

I was leaning towards a pair of Indy boots but don't really have a need for a boot and am not a huge fan of the look with non-denim so I was hoping to get another pair of blucher's in more rugged form.

I've kind of narrowed it down to the 2 below and was hoping to get any input/ advice/ etc on either or both models (or any other Alden that may be similar..)

Thanks!

PS: so many amazing shoes in this thread..

After a shoe as simple as a calf black PTB, why not mix in something a little more interesting...

I actually was in your boat with the Indy. However, I found them at a price I couldn't refuse earlier this past summer ($300 BNIB) up in Baltimore. After each wear I consider them more and more comfortable. I am convinced it will be the most comfortable shoe/boot I have by the end of this month. There are a plethora of Indy variations, but I am extremely pleased with the 403. BTW, I almost never wear denim.

Good luck to you my friend...

ps There is absolutely nothing wrong with your original thoughts on your next Alden purchase.

Lazy & rainy sunday makes it a good day for CXL and double waterlock sole. I just replaced the black flat waxed Alden laces with leather. I think I'll keep it like this.

So Gents....
Do you have any suggestions for replacement laces for boots?
My black captoe's laces are fraying, and will soon break.
Should I contact one of the factory stores to purchase replacements?
I do prefer the thinner flat laces for these boots.
I thought about some round waxed laces, but nothing seems to be readily available.

If you're up for trying colored laces, try Benjos.com. Quite a variety of colors to match Aldens of various shapes and shades. Also look to shoelacesexpress. I was told last month that they'll be offering flat waxed boot laces in both "normal" and colored styles

I agree with the chomexcel comment, but I personally prefer leather soles: http://www.theshoemart.com/alden-me...ald-mxsclp-95080_ald_m_plain_toe_blucher.html

These also are beautiful (and there is a sale): https://korvue.haberdashmen.com/products/arthur-unlined-leather-dover/4545422

LHS Family Shot:

Cordovan Calf / Whiskey Shell / Cigar Shell

1000

I picked up the barely worn Cigars for $203 on eBay. There are good deals out there if you're patient.

I hope everyone on here had a fantastic Thanksgiving and a great start to Hanukkah if you celebrate it.
