These were part of the ebay trove that Stmaier put up on Thursday. Had these four, plus about 12 other boots, all at retail or less. Some grail level (a pair of lightly used Ravello NST Aberdeen boots, I think) and others just solid makeups. I grabbed the two ravellos that were new, and two of the #8s that were new as well. I'd been looking to go up to these sizes, because I'd been stuck at 10.5E and 11E boots for a while, and the width/length wasn't ideal. This was a great chance to take the plunge, and so I did.

No, that's my office, where I had them delivered. Work in finance, but the office is an old farm house.

I know it's a long shot, but if you don't care to keep either of the non-8s, I'll gladly pay a premium over your eBay cost!

Small PSA Alden Gents. Prices may not be reflected of sale online.

Leatherfoot in Toronto is clearing some stock styles for new spring arrivals. I am not sure what the USD price would be, but it will be at a discount. Email them for more info.

You could try contacting Randy the Cobbler. He may still be willing to do it, although his focus has turned more to sneakers.

I've done the painter's tape, cotton ball and acetone method for some shoes. Dye it darker with heel and sole edge dressing. You might want to try it on a beater pair first though if you're unsure. Worst thing is you just dye it back to black.

Allow me to lament for a moment here...its unfortunate that we have to scour and search the Fora and Ebay and/or pay exorbitant prices on the secondary market for Alden rarities...

Alden needs to drop some rare shell bombs on us soon please.

    Thanks.

I've heard good things about Aram @ AH One Shoes

    Also, of course, B Nelson.

Decided to go down the same path as @adamf009 and turn the antique edge of these Plaza lasted WT boots black.

Took them to my cobbler, who sanded the edge, then painted both the edge and the welt black and finished by waxing the edge (maybe also the welt, not sure). Here's the result.

    Total cost: $13.60. Taxes included.

Plaza is such a better last for the dark edge/last. It is frustrating that no one seems to be doing that make up anymore since Yenni took over from J.Gilbert. I've tried to get her to do the make up with dark edges, but antique edge with #8 has been too hot. I'm on the next order for her antique edge #8 WT boots, but I'd much rather have the dark edge/welt on a Plaza #8 WT boot.

I always think dark edges look better on dark uppers.

Immediately put on the plaza wtbs. Wet muddy day calls for commando sole, and wanted to test the size of these out before I put any creases/mud/scratches on the ravello indy's. For a while I thought I preferred the antique on the #8 plaza too, but I think in retrospect I much prefer the look of dark edge that gets scratched and worn down to a patina'd brown.
