I hear border traffic is crazy these days and it really sucks to be a cross-border commuter. What part of the Detroit area? There are some simply incredible burbs.

Downtown/Greektown?

Keep in mind I don't know Detroit like I used to.

Indian Village is an affluent, integrated neighborhood very close to Downtown/Greektown. It's full of "architecturally significant" homes. Jack White used to live there.

If you don't mind apartment living you could live right there.

"The Pointes" are a series of burbs just down Jefferson. Full, of old money, excellent old architecture, the Detroit Country Club.

Access to I-75 and I-94 is right there. You could zip out to any number of farther 'burbs either north or south. An interesting choice to the south is Grosse Ile (pronounced "eel") which is an island in the Detroit River at the mouth of Lake Erie.

Fun Fact about teh Booth: In middle school I had a secret internet girlfriend and she lived in Milwaukee. We kept in touch until early adulthood then she stopped talking to me because I offended her with a Facebook post.

Now moving into middle adulthood I have a different internet girlfriend, her name is Pio Bear. Teehehehehehe!!!1111
