It was pretty good, but a little too long.

I went to Hollywood 24 in Tucker, GA and the 7:00 wasn't even sold out. The movie was great and not too long, IMO. Heath played a great part; I wouldn't be surprised if he gets and Oscar nomination and even if he wins.

ok, crazy, but i have seen it three times...

first time...IMAX, almost unwatchable

second time...crying infants/children

third time...charm

mr ledger desrves what has been said about him.

excellent performance in a good comic book movie.

whether that merits a oscar nomination or a oscar.....

saw it this afternoon. Good movie- a little too long, took too long to get the whole harvey dent story out. Also, I call shenanigans on the whole heath ledger thing. Everyone is entitiled to their opinions but I seriously question if all this oscar/awesome performance talk would be around if he hadnt died. I thought he brought something unique to the story, but imo, I liked Jack Nicholsons performace better. HL was way too serious in this film, which (and I will admit I have not read any of the comics in 2000 years), is not the way I image the joker.

I do want to see it in imax again.

Oh and +2 for the trailers, Quantum of Solace and Watchmen

Good film. 8/10

Bouquets:

Heath Ledger's excellent Joker
Style and art direction
Good action sequences
Maggie Gyllenhall

Brickbats:

15 minutes too long
Christian Bale's 'Batman' voice sounds like he's on a Appreciation phone line
Snarky comment about 3 button suits being too '90s'!
Score weak

I suspect you're right that Ledger's death will make him a more serious Oscar contender than he would have been otherwise. But I greatly prefer his Joker to Jack's. With Jack, I was always aware that this was JACK NICHOLSON playing a part -- essentially a caricature of his previous works. With Ledger, there were only a few seconds, here and there, when I thought he was even recognizable. For the first time, the Joker was an actual character, and dangerous at that, rather than a pantomime villain.

+1 but I still found it to be a fine film. Not sure why exactly he had to go to Hong Kong but... It wasn't that I was bored but it felt like the movie could have been a bit more streamlined. Also +1 on Doc's comment. I was saying the same thing to my dad after we got out of the film today. Regardless of whether Ledger's alive or (sadly) dead, he f'ing NAILED Joker. Jack was born to play a character like Joker as evidenced by his performance in "The Shining" and to a lesser extent "Cukoo;" Ledger, however, poured himself into this role mind, body, and soul. It was one of the rare times I've seen a film and have been convinced that I was watching the character on film and not the actor. A guy who did "10 Things I Hate About You" and "A Knight's Tale" shouldn't be able to perform the way he did. On the score, it was a collaborative effort so I'm curious to see who was in charge of what as I'm a big fan of Newton Howard's. The turbine-engine crescendo during tense scenes was really effective IMO. I'm already planning on seeing it again on Wednesday.
