The art of wearing tan shoes with navy suits

What's your choice among these four statements if wearing navy suits?

1. You should never wear tan shoes with navy suits.
2. You should match tan shoes with tan belts.
3. You should not match tan shoes with a tan belt. Belt must me much darker.
4. You should not wear a belt at all if you wear tan shoes.


IMO tan (not light brown, but tan) shoes look bright so if matched with tan belt it looks much too risky. So, I assume you either should wear a black belt with tan shoes or no belt at all. The question is if these two options are allowed stylewise.

The problem is both tan shoes and tan belts are too bright. So your belt must be darker. So you have the belt and the shoes that don't match which is a problem in its own right.

Tan shoes with navy looks like ****. Has to be darker than tan, or lighter than navy.

Yes brown or burgundy. I typ only wear black shoes with blk pants. I think this is pretty common in my experience.

I really don't like navy suits with tan shoes. It looks quite flashy, and not in a fun/good way.

If you really, really must combine light brown shoes with a blue suit my tips would be these:

- only do it on the sunniest days of the year
- only do it with a blue suit that is at least a couple of shades brighter than navy (and preferably much lighter still)
- only do it within a reasonably casual outfit/setting

I almost always wear black shoes with navy suits. Once in a blue moon, I might wear very dark brown or dark burgundy. I always feel a bit random on those days.
