(Tailors/stores) for business slacks, shirts and suits in New York City

Hello,

I have been using WWChan exclusively since 2003 for all my suits and shirts and really like his work. I have never really worn shirts or suits off the rack and I'm afraid of buying any. Or should I not be?

Basically my questions are:

1. Are there any good tailors ($100-$175 per shirt) for shirts and suits in the city people can recommend that are comparable in quality? I read another thread with someone recommending CEGO at 23rd and 5th.

2. Where can I buy good quality slacks? This summer weather is out of control and I'm just wearing my slacks to work unless I have meetings. Someone recommended Banana Republic.. I've never been to that store before, I thought their merchandise is just for casual wear?

3. A friend of mine recommended Saks of Fifth or something. I take it, it's not the Saks on 5th Ave but another store selling discounted wares like C21?

For slacks I'd be willing to spend $100-$250, shirts $100-$175, suits it would depend on the fabric of course...

Also, any advice on any deals or little gems to buy a bunch of this stuff in one go is appreciated as I really need to expand my wardrobe.

Thanks in advance!

I think you're a troll, because you're confident enough to commission clothing from a tailor in Hong Kong but you're "afraid" to go to a store and try stuff on.

I was introduced to my tailor in Hong Kong. Since I moved back to NYC it's a bit difficult working with him so I'm wondering what stores/tailors people in NY would recommend.

And I am "afraid" of finding these stores out on my own without any recommendations as I feel more comfortable going by recommendation and leveraging off other peoples' knowledge.

Isn't that what this forum is about?
