Hello gang!
I'm going to Bangkok for 4 days (i leave on Monday 1/23)... and then I will be in Hong Kong for just over 3 days (starting Saturday eve 1/11).
I'm looking to have a suit made, a sport coat, 2 pairs of slacks and as many shirts I can get away with.
I have a slightly odd shape (I'm about 5'6, 174lbs, 17" neck, 32" waist, my inseam is between 28-29", and I usually wear a 41S in suit which aren't easy to find so I end up with 42S often)
so I thought this would be a good opportunity to get tailor a taylor-made wardrobe.
The suit I want to copy is an RL Black label... I don't have one of my own, so I'll go with a description
http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/...1766339&ab=ln_men_cs1_suits&parentPage=family
As for the shirts... I'm not quite sure what to go for... I have a few styles I like, but the important thing is fit. I find that even when I buy slim fit here with the 17" neck the arms and waist area are too big (wide).
My original intention was to go to Raja's Fashion in BKK, but after all the comments I'm not so sure anymore. Some of my class mates who swear by that shop though. I decided to spend a little more money and go to Narin. However, given the Chinese new year neither shop will be able to make jackets. I've corresponded with Bobby (Raja's) and Peter (Narin) and none think they can build the suits in that time. Narin needs 2 weeks, and Raja's tailor will be out for a few days on vacation.
Recently I stumbled across this shop "Tailor on Ten" http://www.tailoronten.com ... they look interesting, but their prices are a bit high for Bangkok and not justified (for me at least) given that they are brand new.
Does anyone have experience with them?? I may give them a try if they are able to accommodate
(I really like what I see on the website and they offer fully canvassed jackets if I ask for one)
I've also gotten in touch with Peter Lee in HK, and was told he could get 1 fitting in before I leave HK and they would mail me the suits when they are done. I don't know that 1 fitting is enough. I haven't heard back from WW Chan yet.
What do you guys think??
Should I just save my money and find a place in the US?
Also... I'm looking to buy my first automatic watch ... Any suggestions as to where I can get a good deal in HK? (New or slightly used)
